Marcus Meadows-Smith
CEO
Meadows-Smith comes to AgraQuest following a 14-year career with Chemtura Corporation USA (formerly Crompton, Uniroyal Chemical and Great Lakes), where he recently served as Executive Vice President in charge of a $1.9 billion portfolio of businesses including the Crop Protection, Consumer Products, and Plastics Additives divisions. Prior to this, he was employed for six years by the Sumitomo Corporation where he was the Marketing Manager for the Crop Protection Products and Public Health Pesticides division, based out of London.
Meadows-Smith holds a degree in Biological Sciences, Genetics from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.
Michael J. Miille, Ph.D.
President and COO
Mike Miille joined AgraQuest as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer in May of 2004. Previously, he was co-founder and COO of Sagres Discovery, a cancer therapeutics discovery company, where he was responsible for all aspects of operations and finance. Before Sagres, he was President and CEO of Zoogen, Inc. and Director and General Manager of Celera AgGen and Perkin Elmer Zoogen after they acquired Zoogen. At Zoogen, PE Zoogen and Celera AgGen, he led efforts to develop new markets which increased revenues by 300%. He expanded the company into the animal forensic market, and into plant genomics, which was spearheaded by the acquisition of Linkage Genetics and capped by award of a $20 million RhoBio contract.
Before AgGen and Zoogen, Dr. Miille was General Manager, Commercial Business, Quanterra (formed by merger of Enseco and IT) where he was responsible for 16 laboratories and $70M in revenues. Prior to that he worked in various management positions for Cal Analytical Labs, which later became Enseco.
Dr. Miille received a PhD in Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry from the University of California at Davis and a BS in Biological Sciences from Stanford.
Derek Fairchild-Coppoletti
CFO and Executive VP of Corporate Development
Mr. Fairchild-Coppoletti joins AgraQuest from Sendmail, Inc., a global provider of enterprise solutions for secure, dependable, and compliant messaging, where he was chief financial officer and executive vice president, corporate development. Previously, he was with Critical Path, a global provider of digital communications software and services, where he was vice president of corporate development. At Critical Path, he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, licensing and distribution agreements, outsourcing and strategic sales. Fairchild-Coppoletti has also held positions at Vectis Group, Lionbridge Technologies, Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and Morgan Stanley Capital Partners.
Jon Margolis
Senior VP of Research & Development
Dr. Margolis brings over 19 years of management, business development and research experience from the innovative, results-driven biotech arena. Prior to joining AgraQuest, Jonathan Margolis was Senior Director of Chemical Genetics at Exelixes, Inc where he led a $100 million joint venture between Exelixis and Bayer CropScience, forged research alliances with Dow AgroSciences, and managed a large R & D department through periods of restructuring and rapid corporate growth. Jonathan is an internationally recognized expert on model systems in drug discovery, and an invited author and speaker at industry and public sector symposia. Dr. Margolis received a PhD in Biology from the University of California, San Diego and a BS in Biology from Swarthmore College.
Ashish Malik
Senior VP of Global Marketing
Ashish Malik came to AgraQuest in April 2008 from Syngenta, where he served as the Head of Commercial Operations for the Home Care Division. During that time he was responsible for the overall leadership of the newly developed division, where he defined growth strategies, developed go-to-market approaches and identified opportunities for brand value building. Prior to his five-years with Syngenta, he worked for Imerys, where he was a Business Unit Director, and for BFGoodrich, where he served as a Market Manager. Mr. Malik holds an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from Carnegie Mellon University – Tepper School of Business, and a bachelor's degree in Engineering from Swarthmore College.
Christina Huben
Senior VP, General Counsel & Secretary
Ms. Huben comes to AgraQuest with 25 years of legal experience, most recently holding the position of Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Chemtura Corporation, a specialty chemical company, where she was responsible for global commercial and mergers and acquisitions activities. Prior to the formation of Chemtura, she spent seven years with Chemtura predecessor companies, serving as Assistant General Counsel and Legal Director for EMEA, working out of offices in Connecticut, London and Geneva. Before that time, Ms. Huben was General Counsel & Secretary of EnviroSource, Inc. Her vast professional experience includes leading large and small corporations through a variety of commercial legal matters including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, product distribution arrangements, corporate finance, corporate governance, and compliance programs. Ms. Huben holds a J.D from Pace University School of Law and a B.A from the State University of New York at Albany.

John Pasquesi
Chair - Board of Directors
John Pasquesi, MBA,Otter Capital was founded by John Pasquesi to make a variety of private equity investments. Prior to founding Otter Capital, Mr. Pasquesi was a Managing Director and member of the Executive Committee of Hellman & Friedman LLC, a private equity investment firm that has raised and managed over $4.8 billion of committed capital. Prior to joining Hellman & Friedman in 1987, Mr. Pasquesi was associated with Golder, Thoma & Cressey, a Chicago based private equity firm. Mr. Pasquesi has an MBA from Stanford.
Edward Forwood
Director
Edward Forwood, MD, of Loudwater Investment Partners, has had a 20 year career in managing, advising and investing in technology and other early stage companies. Prior to that, he trained in corporate finance at Hill Samuel Bank Limited and Ernst & Young, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG. He was the founding chief executive of kVault Software Limited which was sold in 2004 for $225 million. Edward spent seven years at Durlacher, latterly as Director of Private Equity. Prior to working at Durlacher, Edward co-lead two management buy-ins of technology and engineering companies. He has an MA degree in law from Cambridge University.
Martin Huml
Runway Capital, LLC
Martin Huml is a Managing Partner and the founder of Runway Capital LLC, a private equity investment firm. Prior, Martin founded and ran a consulting business which advised venture capital firms on their portfolio companies; his clients included Mayfield, Soros, Norwest, Weisel, JPMorgan CP, Oak, NEA, TCV, Bain Capital, and Pequot. Before Runway, he worked in the Private Equity group of Credit Suisse First Boston in London for four years. Martin started his business career as an entrepreneur founding, running and successfully selling a company which became the exclusive Apple Computer distributor for most of Central and Eastern Europe including Russia and Czechoslovakia. He graduated with honors with a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Czech Technical University, Prague, Czech Republic and holds a postgraduate degree in Finance from Stern Graduate School of Business, New York University.
Martin serves as Chairman of Arena Solutions and Chairman of Konsepti.
Walter Locher
Senior Advisor, Emerald Technology Ventures
Mr. Walter Locher is currently a senior advisor for Emerald Technology Ventures and a principle in Sustainable Asset Management's Private Equity fund (Zurich). Mr. Locher was CEO of Anderson Clayton Corp. (1990-1997), a large cottonseed processor with 40 facilities in Arizona and California, employing 1200 people. Simultaneously, he was President of Volkart International, Inc., an international cotton trading house. Before that (1981-1990), he was CFO of Volkart Brothers Holding Ltd., a prominent trading house in the physical commodities business, involving trade finance, portfolio management and worldwide mergers and acquisitions (based in Switzerland). He was General Manager of the international distribution company of Eutectic-Castolin, a multi national manufacturer of industrial consumables (based in Panama and New York) and President of Volkart Japan, Ltd in Osaka. He has had other assignments in the international trading of commodities in USA, Central and Latin America. Mr. Locher was educated at the Commercial College in Switzerland, completed the Management Course IMD, Switzerland and the Senior Executive Program at Stanford. He is fluent in German, Spanish and English with knowledge of French, Italian and Japanese.
Bill E. McGlashan, Jr.
TPG Ventures
Managing Director of TPG Ventures since 2004, Mr. Mclashan previously served as Chairman and CEO of Critical Path since April of 2001.
Prior to that, he served as chief executive of technology investment firm Vectis Group LLC and as a Venture Partner at Whitney & Co., the first established venture firm in the U.S., with approximately $5 billion under management. Before that he co-founded and served as president of Pharmanex, a leading phyto-pharmaceutical and dietary supplement company.
Prior to Pharmanex, McGlashan was co-founder and CEO of Generation Ventures, a firm funded by Whitney & Co. that started new ventures and facilitated the entry of U.S. technology companies in China. He also co-founded and served as president of TRADE Inc., a venture funded trade information database company, and was a senior associate with Bain Capital and Information Partners.
McGlashan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history at Yale University and a master's degree in business administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Payman Pouladdej
Halcyon Capital
Mr. Payman Pouladdej is a private investor and technology entrepreneur. After spending over three decades building and selling start ups to public companies such as CA, BMC, Citrix, he is now focusing his energies in the discovery and financing of innovation. This pursuit extends to companies large and small, with a consistent commitment to projects with which he shares a vision for the future; from the development of lumber and textiles in Eastern Europe, to digital media start ups in San Francisco and New York. In addition to his private sector initiatives, Mr. Pouladdej has also held positions in public companies, most notably as Senior Vice President at CA, which he left in 1990.
Underlying Mr. Pouladdej's entrepreneurial drive lies a passion for environmental and humanitarian initiatives, including support of the Waterkeeper organization of which he has been an active member and contributor for over a decade. Mr. Pouladdej attended Boston University and MIT. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
Bill Reilly
Senior Advisor, Texas Pacific Group
Bill Reilly brings decades of experience in environmentally and economically sound business practices to AgraQuest. The Architect for the Clean Air Act Amendments in 1990, Reilly served as the head of the EPA from 1989-1993.
Reilly is a Senior Advisor to Texas Pacific Group's TPG Growth, an international investment partnership. He was a founding partner of Aqua International Partners, a private equity fund dedicated to investing in companies engaged in water and renewable energy. Reilly served as the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (1989-1993), President of the World Wildlife Fund (1985-1989), President of The Conservation Foundation (1973-1989) and past Chairman of the American Farmland Trust. He was head of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Earth Summit at Rio in 1992. Also in 1992, he was the primary mover behind the Montreal Protocol to phase out the global use of Methyl Bromide.
Reilly is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of the World Wildlife Fund, Co-Chair of the National Commission on Energy Policy, Chair of the Advisory Board for the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University, Chair of the San Francisco Mayor's Clean Tech Advisory Council and a Director of DuPont, the Packard Foundation and the National Geographic Society,. He holds a B.A. degree from Yale, J.D. from Harvard and M.S. in Urban Planning from Columbia University.
