Meet some of the people that help make up the AgraQuest eco-system
Denise Manker
Product Development - VP Global Product Development
Q: What are your main job responsibilities?
A: One of my main responsibilities is to oversee the field trial program in both the US and internationally. I'm also involved in managing some of our collaborations with other companies. Another really fun part of my job is demonstrating that our products can solve problems for growers in unexpected markets like mushrooms and bananas or new geographies like Brazil.
Q: Why did you choose AgraQuest over other companies?
I had been working for a large company (Novo Nordisk) where there was not always a direct correlation between your successes and contributions and the longevity of the enterprise. Also, it took much longer to get ideas/discoveries to market in a big company. I hoped that in coming to AgraQuest, I would work on research in the lab that actually resulted in products that would help growers and the environment. One of the first chemistry projects I worked on was QST713 which became the biofungicide Serenade. After that, I just couldn't stop; it was too much fun.
Q: What do you like best about working here?
A: I like seeing how my direct contributions affect the business. I like watching how the teams work together to come up with the best solutions and working within the teams to progress the product candidates. We move at a pace that allows you to see how your projects and ideas grow to success. I also think we have a great group of people who I very much enjoy working with. I'm really happy to have a job that I love.
Q: What have been your greatest achievements during your employment at AgraQuest and/or what do you hope to achieve during your tenure here?
A: I was really happy with the package I assembled that resulted in the Presidential Green Chemistry Award for the chemistry research on Serenade. But I think the greatest achievements have been working with the teams to get Serenade and Sonata on the market and I'm really looking forward to celebrating the introduction of Requiem, our first AQ developed insecticide. Hitting some key benchmarks for sales revenue is what I hope to see us achieve.
Q: What motivates you with respect to your work here?
A: Knowing that we are making a difference to the agricultural community and to the environment is what motivates me. When I see us designing programs that replace older, toxic agricultural chemicals with effective programs including our products, that makes me feel like all the hard work is well worth it. The enthusiasm that surrounds me from my colleagues doesn't hurt, either. It's a great company to be part of.

Based on the forecast, I coordinate production plans with our production facility in Mexico. I also evaluate sales demands for each of our sales territories and coordinate warehouse stock transfers to replenish inventory at various warehouses located throughout the U.S., including the coordination of end of month inventory reporting and reconciliation. I like being part of a company that is bringing cleaner and safer solutions to solve global problems.

Q: What are your main job responsibilities?
A: I figure out how to scale our lab production processes to the large-scale manufacturing process at our manufacturing plant. It's really exciting to see my lab projects scaled up to the huge production tanks, and then to see the final product in the distributor warehouses.
